Humber College has partnered up with OneMatch Stem Cell and Marrow Network to host Get Swabbed this month.
The event will be held at Humber’s Lakeshore Campus on Monday, Feb. 11 and at the North Campus on Thursday, Feb. 28.
Humber teamed up with OneMatch to help the organization reach a goal of getting more young (aged 17 to 35), ethnically diverse male stem cell donors to help make OneMatch more reflective of Canada’s population.
According to Canadian Blood Services, more than 900 people are currently waiting for a stem cell match from an unrelated donor, and of the more than 330,000 Canadians who have provided a swab for the national registry, 76 per cent are Caucasian and only 24 per cent are from Canada’s many ethnic groups.
All are encouraged to attend one of the following events:

Monday, Feb. 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Lakeshore Commons (L1017), 3199 Lake Shore Blvd. W.
