Trusteee hosts special education forum tonight

Etobicoke Guardian

Etobicoke Centre Trustee Chris Glover will host the second anniversary celebration edition of Etobicoke Centre’s Special Education Forum tonight.

All staff, parents and students are invited to attend Tuesday, Feb. 5 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Martingrove Collegiate Institute, 50 Winterton Dr., to listen as special education student speakers from Etobicoke Centre schools present.

Tonight’s forum celebrates the achievements of the forum over the past two years, including: working with staff, parents and students to improve special education services in our schools; increasing access to accessible bussing for field trips; helping shepherd through a new process for informing teachers about the individual learning needs of students in their classes; assisting in the promotion of “fair play” school teams that promote inclusion of students with special needs; and the arrangement of more after-school student social programs at Central Etobicoke High School.

The Special Education Forum’s broader goal is to achieve greater community understanding and inclusion of students with special needs.

All are invited to attend tonight’s forum. For more information or to register, please email Nancy.Trendoff@tdsb.on.ca
