Two apparently different men robbed banks close to each other in Scarborough’s Golden Mile shopping district earlier this week, but only one got away with any cash.
Toronto police in 41 Division say a man entered the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce on Lebovic Avenue at 11:50 p.m. on Feb. 3 and presented a note demanding cash.
At 3:05 p.m., a second man tried the same thing at the TD Canada Trust on Eglinton Square, about two blocks to the west, but an employee there refused and police say the man fled empty-handed.
The CIBC bandit was described as 25 to 30 years old, black, and five foot eight or nine with a heavy build, a goatee and short black hair.
The man who entered the TD branch is said to be 30 to 35 years old, white, and six foot to six foot three with a thin build.
