UPDATE: Police looking for Persons of Interest in Parkdale incident

Parkdale Villager

An investigation into the circumstances that left a man unconscious and in critical condition on Queen Street West Wednesday is now being treated as suspicious.

Emergency Medical Services responded to a call at 2 a.m. on Jan. 30 after a 21-year-old man collapsed on the sidewalk at the corner of Queen Street West and Beaty Avenue in Parkdale.

“We did transport a man with very, very serious life threatening injuries,” McKinnon said. “It was a traumatic injury.”

McKinnon explained she was not able to elaborate on the nature of the injury beyond the fact that the man was unconscious.

Police in 14 Division launched an investigation after they were called to a local hospital just before 4 a.m. that same day because a man was taken there by Toronto Emergency Medical Services with life threatening injuries.

Const. Victor Kwong with Toronto Police Service said the man had been found by EMS face down in the street in front of 1501 Queen Street West, a large apartment building at the corner of Beaty Avenue.

By Wednesday afternoon police had concluded there was no “criminal element to the man’s injuries”. But new information has come to light, which Kwong said has led police to take another look at the incident.

Police now report two men were seen leaving the scene.

The two men are classified as Persons of Interest. They are described as:
• 20-25, 5’7”- 5’8”, last seen wearing a baggy jacket and low-hanging jeans;
• 20-25, last seen wearing a light coloured shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-1400, Crime Stoppers
