Arrest made in Rexdale shooting

One man has been arrested and another is in hospital recovering from a gunshot wound following a shooting in Rexdale Tuesday night.

Police were called to 27 Bergamot Ave. (near Islington Avenue and Rexdale Boulevard) where the shooting took place at around 8:21 p.m. Officers attended the location, but the victim had apparently left the scene, said Const. Tony Vella.

Meanwhile, Toronto EMS spokesperson Kim McKinnon said paramedics were dispatched to a separate location in the area of Islington Avenue and Rexdale Boulevard at around 8:23 p.m., where they found the victim.

“We transported a male (in his mid-20s) with a serious but not-life-threatening gunshot wound to the trauma centre,” she said.

Vella said police later located the victim in the hospital, and that an as-yet unidentified man has since been arrested in connection with the shooting. The charges against him are not yet known.

The investigation continues.
