City daycares to run during school labour disruption

Scarborough Mirror

City-run daycare centres at Toronto schools are expected to be open as usual Friday, despite the fact public elementary and junior high schools will be closed due to a one-day labour disruption by teachers across the province.

Parents with children in child care centres run out of schools by other organizations should check with them to determine if the programs are running,

Meanwhile, city-run recreation programs that operate in schools before 6 p.m. have been cancelled.

Where possible, makeup classes will be scheduled and participants will be informed of details by their instructors. In the event a class can’t be rescheduled, participants will receive a credit.

Programs operating in schools after 6 p.m. will operate as normal.

Programs and services that operate in locations other than schools, such as community centres and arenas, will continue as regularly scheduled.

Details of relocations and cancellations are available at www.toronto.ca/parks or by calling 311.
