Visiting hours have been cancelled at the Finch site of Humber River Regional Hospital for the evening of Tuesday, Jan. 8 after a water pipe leak.
The water supply at the Finch site, on Finch Avenue West, east of Hwy. 400, will be shut off beginning at 6 p.m. to allow for repairs, which are expected to be finished by 10 p.m.
Portable water sources will be available for patient care. However, water in public areas, including public washrooms, will not be available.
Visitors for critically ill patients will be allowed to see loved ones but all other visitors will be turned away.
Visiting hours will resume at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9.
Ambulances will be redirected to other hospitals when safe to do so during repairs.
However, the Finch site will accept ambulances with critically ill patients and there will be doctors, staff and equipment in place to care for those patients.
Phone service will operate normally. Additional staff will be on hand to assist with calls but the public may experience longer that normal wait times for a response.
Visiting hours at Humber River’s Church Street and Keele Street sites are not affected.
