Man speeds away as armed robbers approach, two arrested

Etobicoke Guardian

Two Markham men have been arrested and charged in connection with an armed robbery at an Etobicoke home on Sunday, Jan. 6.

It is alleged the two accused approached their victim as he arrived home at his Royal York Road and Lawrence Avenue West residence and drove into his garage.

The accused – one armed with a gun, both wearing black bandanas over their faces – approached the man’s driver side window and demanded he exit the vehicle.

The victim refused, and put the vehicle in reverse and drove out of the garage. He then called 911 as the two accused fled the scene in a black vehicle.

Omar Patterson, 24, of Markham, was arrested at an address in Markham on Sunday, Jan. 6 and charged with: robbery while armed with a firearm; and disguise with intent.

Ryan Phillips, 27, of Markham, was arrested on Monday, Jan. 7 and charged with: robbery while armed with a firearm; disguise with intent; and failure to comply with probation.

Both appeared in court on Monday.
