Police officer’s leg broken during arrest
A man is facing nine charges after two police officers were allegedly assaulted on Monday, Jan. 7.
Police said two officers were called to the Scarborough Golf Club and Ellesmere Road area for an investigation when a man fled the scene on foot.
Police alleged a man charged at one of the officers, knocking him to the ground causing the officer to break a leg.
The second officer sustained a leg injury while attempting to restrain the man.
Officers who arrested the accused allegedly found a replica machine gun in his knapsack.
Both police were taken to hospital and treated for their injuries.
Richard Clarke, 39, of Toronto, faces nince charges including aggravated assault, assault with intent to resist arrest and carrying a concealed weapon.
