Man, 22, Toronto’s first murder victim of 2013

North York Mirror

A fatal stabbing outside a North York bar just hours into the new year is the city’s first homicide of 2013.

Police said a man, 22, was stabbed outside Randy’s Sports Bar and Restaurant on Keele Street, south of Steeles Avenue. Friends drove him to Humber River Regional Hospital’s Finch site around 5 a.m., where he was pronounced dead.

The victim was involved in an altercation with another man outside the bar, police said, adding it appears the two men did not know one another.

Witnesses are co-operating with police but a suspect has not been arrested.

The suspect is described as dark skinned, 5’7 to 5’8 with a heavy build and braided hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and white baseball cap.

The suspect was seen with another man, who is described as black, 6’2 with a slender build. He was wearing a black jacket, black T-shirt and black toque.

The victim’s name has not been released.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477.
