A new state-of-the-art stormwater system in the West Don Lands has recently been awarded a 2012 Ontario Concrete Award.
The annual awards recognize excellence and innovation in the use of concrete.
The West Don lands Stormwater and Conveyance Project is designed to treat and divert stormwater from the West Don Lands into Lake Ontario via the Keating Channel.
The Waterfront Toronto-led project, one of 10 projects to receive an award at the annual Ontario Concrete Awards Banquet on Nov. 28, includes a treatment plant, an oil grit separator, and a series of underground shafts and tunnels, the majority of which are made out of concrete.
The project team includes R.V. Anderson Associates Ltd., Eastern Construction Cpo. Ltd., C & M McNally Engineering Corp. as well as material suppliers Dufferin Concrete and Munro Ltd.
