With teachers looking to hold a one-day walkout tomorrow (Tuesday, Dec. 18) Scadding Court Community Centre (SCCC) is providing much needed support to families in the Alexandra Park and surrounding area.
The centre, located at 707 Dundas Street West, will offer arts and crafts, reading circles, gym activities and more for children who would otherwise have to stay at home, making life far easier for parents who might otherwise have had to choose between leaving their children unattended at home or taking a day off work.
The SCCC has implemented similar programming during previous school labour disruptions.
“Our space is available to families with childcare needs,” said SCCC executive director Kevin Lee. “Like in past years, Scadding Court is committed to ensuring that children are safe and will assist families during this labour disruption.”
While children aged 12 and under must be registered to take part in the program, those over 12 are free to drop in throughout the day.
Those looking to register a younger child can do so by calling Walter Quan at 416-392-0335.
The special programming will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
