Skate to help those in need

City Centre Mirror

SPEAKout Poetry is inviting the public to a free winter skate while making a difference for those in need.

The organization, which helps bridge barriers and bring people together using spoken word poetry, is encouraging people to lace up their blades and take to the ice at Harbourfront Centre.

Participants are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for a local food bank.

The SPEAKout skating event will take place at the Harbourfront Centre’s Natrel Rink, 235 Queen’s Quay W., at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22.
