A free community event where deserving individuals and families are treated to a professional photo shoot is set to take place Saturday, Dec. 8 at the Ralph Thornton Centre, 765 Queen St. E., just east of Broadview Avenue.
Help-Portrait, which will also include free services from hairstylists and make-up artists, runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Celebrity photographer Jeremy Cowart created Help-Portrait in 2009 with the goal of giving recipients hope, pride and self-esteem through a free professional portrait.
Since its inception, the worldwide event has provided 169,523 portraits shot by 15,558 photographers with the help of 21,447 volunteers in more than 1,520 locations in 56 countries. This year’s event is expected to be bigger than ever.
