Mayor Rob Ford has been cleared to run in any by-election that may be called to replace him.
Superior Court Justice Charles Hackland agreed Friday to alter his ruling in Ford’s conflict of interest case that said he could only run for re-election beyond the current term.
Hackland agreed to remove the current term from the decision, allowing Ford to register as a candidate should council choose to call a by-election.
Ford has been found guilty of violating the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act, for speaking on his own behalf on a report requiring him to repay $3,150 in donations from lobbyists to a football charity.
Under the act, politicians are forbidden from speaking or voting on a matter in which they have a financial interest.
