A charity concert to raise money for SickKids hospital is taking place at Birchcliff Heights Public School on Sunday, Nov. 25 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Connor Ross’s life changed drastically a year ago when the young local boy from was rushed to The Hospital for Sick Children after his parents became concerned when he was having trouble walking and he was vomiting.
Less than 24 hours after he was admitted to the hospital, Connor underwent surgery to remove a large brain tumour.
Luckily, Connor’s tumour was not malignant and though he is still followed by SickKids, he started junior kindergarten this year at Birchcliff Heights Public School.
On Sunday, Connor’s family is hosting a charity concert to benefit SickKids on the anniversary of his surgery.
Matt Ross, Connor’s father said, “We wanted to create an event to honour Connor and to raise funds for the hospital that cared for him.”
Matt Ross is also the event organizer.
“I work in the music industry and a lot of my friends are musicians, and we’ve always wanted to put on a charity concert – so raising funds for SickKids was the perfect fit.”
The event, called We Rock for SickKids, features performances by The Great Canadian Nobodies, In Living Cover, Driver, and special guest Fred Penner.
The fundraiser also features face painting, a bake sale, raffle and silent auction, a photo booth and lots of refreshments.
Admission is $5 per person and all proceeds will benefit SickKids.
