Pedestrian safety campaign results in 278 fines

Beach Mirror

Step Up and Be Safe, a city-wide pedestrian safety campaign, has resulted in a total of 278 provincial offense tickets issued in 55 Division.

During that seven-day period, police ticketed both pedestrians and motorists for a range of pedestrian safety-related offences.

The initiative, which aims to curb the number of fatal collisions in Toronto, took place from Nov. 5 to 11.

The fall tends to be a particularly deadly time for pedestrians, especially the elderly.

Toronto police are reminding people to drive carefully and be aware we all need to share the road in a safe and responsible manner.
