East York literacy group hosts nerd-themed night for Eton House

East York Mirror

Adult literacy is strictly for the nerds this Thursday, Nov. 22, when an East York non-profit group invites people to “a fun nerd-themed night out” on Danforth Avenue.

The East York Learning Experience says four of 10 Canadian adults struggle with low literacy, and one in six lack skills to do basic banking.

EYLE provides one-on-one tutoring in these skills, which nerds presumably have.

It’s inviting pub-goers to “dress up and embrace their inner nerd” for a benefit at Eton House on Danforth Avenue from 7 to 11 p.m.

There will be prizes for the best costumes.

Tickets are $5, or $7 at the door. People can reserve a spot by emailing inforevengeofthenerds@gmail.com
