Police have now confirmed an elderly couple, who lived on a quiet street near Gerrard Street East and Coxwell Avenue for more than three decades, died earlier this week as a result of a murder-suicide.
Emergency crews received a 9-1-1 call for assistance at 12:31 p.m. on Wednesday (Nov. 14).
Once on scene, they located an elderly couple without vital signs inside a semi-detached home on Ladykirk Avenue.
The female victim, now identified as 70-year-old Leonilde Cabral of Toronto, was found dead in the residence. The retired homemaker was suffering from obvious signs of trauma.
The male victim, Armando Cabral, 74, also of Toronto, was located with life-threatening injuries. Cabral, a retired roofer, was transported to nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, Nov. 15.
Officers from the Homicide Squad have classified this incident as a murder-suicide and are not seeking any other suspect(s).
Investigators aren’t reporting any history of domestic violence or incidents with either of the deceased, who have four adult children.
Police have confirmed through the victims’ family that Armando Cabral recently suffered and sought treatment for mental illness.
Authorities aren’t releasing any more details about this case.
