‘Known Galloway Boy gang member’ faces charges: police
Scarborough Mirror
A man faces four charges of attempted murder connected to shootings around the Orton Park neighbourhood last year.
Toronto Police in a release Thursday, Sept. 20, described Ad-Ham Khamis, 19, as “a known Galloway Boy gang member.”
Members of the Galloway Boys street gang, police said during Sept. 11 press conferences in the Kingston-Galloway area, are believed to have been involved in several recent Scarborough shootings, including a July 16 Danzig Street gun battle in which Shyanne Charles, 14, and Joshua Yasay, 23, were fatally shot.
Police allege Khamis is responsible for the shooting of three men at a Domino’s Pizza on Lawrence Avenue East and Susan Street on Sept. 4, 2011, as well as the shooting of another man north of Lawrence on Northfield Road on Nov. 4.
Both of these incidents were west of the Lawrence Avenue bridge over Highland Creek which separates Orton Park from Kingston-Galloway. Police have alleged there is a rivalry between gang members from the two neighbourhoods.
In addition to attempted murder, Khamis was charged Thursday with two counts of pointing a firearm and a number of firearm-related offences, including trafficking in firearms.
Police said they want to speak with anyone with information about Khamis. They are asked to call 416-808-4330, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
