Mix and match
Stir any of these zesty mix-ins right into the burger mixture:
• chopped green or black olives
•  chopped green onions
•  minced jalapenos
•  minced sun-dried tomatoes
•  a sprinkling of fresh herbs

Choose a better bun
Choose a sturdy, flavourful bread, brush with a little olive oil and toss on the grill at the last minute. A few to try:
•  focaccia
•  ciabatta buns
•  sourdough rolls
•  olive bread
•  pita pockets.

Get creative with toppings
Challenge ketchup's reign over your burger and try one of these toppings instead:
•  grilled pineapple slices
•  pesto
•  guacamole and salsa
•  horseradish sauce
•  sauerkraut.

Stuff it
Create a well in the burger patty, stuff with cheese, seal the meat and cook these cheesy combinations:
•  Swiss cheese and sauteed mushrooms
• Goat cheese and minced roasted red peppers
•  Mozzarella and basil
•  Cheddar cheese and diced bacon.
