Back-to-back shows at Papermill for local songstress
Spotlight on new album Simplicity
Local musician Lynn Harrison, a longtime Beach resident, will be introducing her new album, Simplicity, as she plays two solo shows at the Papermill Theatre April 25 and 26.The elegant 150-seat concert hall is located at historic Todmorden Mills at 67 Pottery Rd.
"Many of my new songs are about paring down, living more simply and consciously," Harrison said in a press release. "It feels right to present them in this intimate venue ... and in a beautiful natural setting."
An accomplished singer and guitarist who has performed widely across Canada and the U.S., Harrison is best known for compelling original songs that illuminate the beauty and meaning of everyday life.
Her songs have been featured on numerous CBC Radio programs including Sounds Like Canada and Fresh Air and have been honoured in international songwriting competitions (John Lennon, Unisong).
Since October 2006, Harrison has been the songwriter-in-residence for Take5, the daily current events program on CIUT 89.5 FM radio in Toronto, writing and performing a new song each week.
In addition to spotlighting her new Simplicity CD, the concerts will include favourites from Harrison's first three CDs - Lynoleum (2001), Learning Curve (2003) and Broadview (2006) - and songs from her ongoing songwriting residency at CIUT 89.5 FM's Take5.
Tickets are $15 in advance, $18 at the door and $8 for children and seniors.
