A new collection of vibrant and whimsical paintings by Russian born, contemporary mixed media artist Julia Hacker explores several directions. The theme, The Wonderment of Life, reflects on her travelling through life with a curious eye. In a Travel Diary series, she has created a half dozen works recounting real and imaginary places she has visited or wants to see. They investigate what stays in our memory after experiencing other places…color, shapes, smells, etc. In a Collage series, she juxtaposes fashion magazine images and vintage Playboy calendars she came across a few years ago at an estate sale. These enchanting depictions of different people and places connect with her themes of travel and wonderment.
