Led by Mei Han, this performance lecture will explore the westernization and modernization of traditional Chinese music and Chinese traditional instruments. Through live demonstrations and comparisons of older forms of Chinese instrumental genres and modernized Chinese music, Mei Han will discuss how the essence of traditional Chinese music has been lost in this rapid modernization. Admission to the performance lecture is free and everyone is welcome to attend. However, due to limited seating, all guests must RSVP online at http://madeinchina.eventbrite.ca/. This performance lecture is sponsored by: the Canada Council for the Arts; the British Columbia Arts Council; MBNA; Manulife Financial; and TD Insurance.
