Moms connect, learn, play.
Etobicoke mom Marianne Theo out for a walk with her daughters (left to right) Poppy, eight months, Karli, 6 and Sailor, 4, enjoyed the Bloor West Village chapter of Mommy Connections so much she is now the director of an Etobicoke Centre chapter. The group offers educational seminars and many hands-on mom and baby programs like baby massage and yoga for eight weeks every Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. starting Sept. 21 at Royal York Baptist Church.

Marianne Theo and her baby daughter, Poppy, got hooked on Mommy Connections.
So hooked, Theo has become the director of an Etobicoke Centre chapter of the group created to connect mothers in their community.
The premise is two-fold. It introduces moms to programs. It also introduces baby-focused businesses to mothers. Moms receive swag bags containing discounts, coupons and samples from local stores.
"It's not just going and sitting and chatting like most mommy groups," said Theo, who also has two other daughters, Sailor, 4 and Karli, 6. "Each week, there's an educational component where you listen to a speaker. There is also a fun component.
"There is baby sign language, mom and baby Pilates and yoga. Each week, you do two different things."
Mommy Connections will meet Wednesday mornings at 10:15 a.m. at Royal York Baptist Church, 1520 Royal York Rd. just south of The Westway. Classes start on Sept. 21. Each session is 90 minutes.
The $120 eight-week program covers postnatal health and fitness, mom and baby nutrition, baby dental concerns, mom and baby fitness classes including baby massage, and returning to work.
