Last year, the Cadillac Fairview run raised $100,000 to support victims of childhood cancer.
This year, organizers of the sixth annual run are aiming even higher. They are hoping 1,000 participants will raise $130,000.Rain or shine, hot or cold, on April 25 runners and walkers will gather at Sunnybrook Park to raise money for the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario, the voice of the childhood cancer community.Participants can take part either in a 10-kilometre run or a five-kilometre run or walk.The run is not competitive and runners of all levels are encouraged to take part.Participants who raise $500 or more in pledges will be entered in a draw to win a weekend escape for four. The first 1,000 participants to register will receive a free Nike dry-fit T-shirt.A healthy breakfast will get runners off to a good start. They and their families will be able to enjoy a barbecue after crossing the finish line. Children can have their faces painted while cheering on participants.Registration and breakfast begin at 9 a.m. Registration costs $35 for individuals and $80 for a family of four.The run begins at 9:45 a.m. At 11 a.m., there will be a barbecue and awarding of presentations and prizes.Runners are asked to meet at the Leslie Street entrance of the park, on the west side of Leslie just north of Eglinton Avenue.To register, visit www.cfrun.ca
