Everyone has a theory or a method for dealing with pimples. Don't touch your face, pop or not to pop, and the ever-popular home remedies. People slather all kinds of things on their face in the hopes they will dry out their pimples.
Below is a selection of home remedies found from various sources on the Internet. These are for fun only. Please don't try anything without consulting a doctor or dermatologist as you may permanently damage and scar your skin.
FOOD BASED
• Apply a mixture of 1 tsp lemon juice and 1 tsp cinnamon powder. This remedy is not for sensitive skin.
• Rub fresh garlic on and around pimples. Pimples will disappear without a mark with regular applications.
• Apply ripe tomato pulp on acne pimples and let it stay for up to one hour, then wash.
• Mix lime juice and rose water in equal portions and apply on affected area. Wash it off after 20 to 30 minutes with lukewarm water
• Make orange peel paste by grinding it in some water. Apply on and around pimples.
• Apply grated potatoes as poultice to treat skin blemishes, wrinkles and pimples such as blackheads and whiteheads.
• Make a paste of salt in vinegar. Rub it on the pimples and wash it off after 20 to 30 minutes with lukewarm water.
WEIRD REMEDIES
• Urine therapy
The theory is that one's urine is packed with antibodies, hormones and other things that are beneficial for one's health. This includes vitamins and minerals the body has excreted. As an acne remedy, it's suggested one massages one's urine over the affected areas. Some people leave it on overnight, assuming their partners and family can stand the smell.
• Sandpaper
Sandpaper is not only good for sanding down wood. Cut a square that is 6 x 6". Next take that square with you to the bathroom and start scrubbing those pimples down. Remember not to scrub too hard because you might start bleeding. You are only trying to teach the acne who is boss by giving them a little hard time rub.
OTHER REMEDIES
• Toothpaste. Toothpaste is said to have drying components, which is why many will dab some on their pimples.
• Ice. Icing down acne is said to lessen acne swelling. They also say it works best on larger pimples that have not yet formed a head
• Witch hazel astringent. This astringent comes from the plant with the same name. Steam the twigs and use what you get as an astringent. What's good about this is it's all natural and is less harsh than commercially produced astringent.
• Tea tree oil. This can be found in any health food store and many grocery stores. This product is a natural antiseptic and germicide and can be used for minor cuts, bites and pimples.
