A one-stop festival for all things BBQ at Woodbine Park

Woodbine Park will be a happening place Father's Day weekend for the newly renamed Beach BBQ and Brews Festival.

Formerly known as Beach Ribfest, the third annual, three-day event will take place Friday, June 17 from 3 to 11 p.m., Saturday, June 18 from noon to 11 p.m. and Sunday, June 19 from noon to 8 p.m.

This year's Beach BBQ and Brews Festival is expected to draw 10,000 barbecue and beer enthusiasts.

Aside from tasty eats, the free event will also include a variety of barbecue competitions including the seventh annual Father's Day Cook Off, the second annual Jack and Grill Cook Off, the second annual Amateur BBQ Rib Competition and the third annual Firefighter Command Cook Off as well as barbecue product vendors, fresh beverages and live entertainment.

Once again, Camp Bucko (www.campbucko.com), a special camp for burn survivors aged seven to 17, is the event's official charity. Adult burn survivors can also volunteer at the camp, which welcomes more than 70 campers from across Canada for a week of fun each August.

The Beach BBQ and Brews Festival, owned and operated by Eventrix Partnership Inc. - the same agency that runs Toronto's Festival of Beer - will take place rain or shine.

Revelers are advised to bring along appropriate sunny-day attire, their appetites, TTC tokens (in case you decide to have a few drinks), and valid photo ID (if you plan on visiting the beer and beverage garden).

Pets are allowed in the park and the event is wheelchair accessible.

Woodbine Park is near Coxwell Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard East.
