Do you want to have a say in how your neighbourhood will evolve in the future? Are you between the ages of 16 to 18? Then you are eligible to participate in the 2010 Scarborough Places to Grow Youth Engagement Project, an initiative run by the provincial government that will give teens the chance to learn about urban planning and design future communities.
The three-month project will be held across nine different communities across the GTA. In Scarborough, 63 participants will be recruited to consider the challenges and opportunities facing neighbourhoods in Scarborough and offer ideas that could help pave the way for a vibrant, sustainable community.Participants will be asked to consider aspects like public transit, pedestrian accessibility, renewable energy, and how green space can be incorporated into existing/future public areas.At the end of the session, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Brad Duguid will address the ideas offered by participants and see how they could be implemented.To get involved, visit www.youthography.com/placestogrow2010 or visit www.placestogrow.ca for more information.The application deadline is March 15, 2010.
