Toronto's Catholic school board is set to host Living and Coping with Anxiety, a mental health symposium featuring special guest speaker Kendra Fisher, next week in honour of Psychology Month.
Fisher, a former goalie with Team Canada's National Hockey Program, will share her struggles living with anxiety and depression during the two-hour event for parents and educators on Tuesday, Feb. 14 from 3:30 to 5:50 p.m. at the Catholic Education Centre, 80 Sheppard Ave. E. in North York. Fisher, who has experienced first-hand the stigma attached to mental illness and its impact on sufferers in an unaware society, will be joined by Rita Alekian, a member of the TCDSB's Psychology Department, who will provide advice and suggest resources to attendees. For more information on this and other TCDSB events for Psychology Month events, go to www.tcdsb.org/psychology
