St. Augustine students floor judges at ballroom dance competition

Students from St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic School are Ontario champions after the school took home the crown during a provincial ballroom dancing competition.

The school, located at 98 Shoreham Dr., beat out dance teams from nine schools across Southern Ontario to win the first Ontario Ballroom Championship, hosted by Future Steps Dance at the Burlington Social Club in Burlington and at All Saints Catholic school in Markham on June 16 and 17.

Coached by their teachers, the students took home a trophy as reward for winning the primary division. They danced multiple dances and showed a winning style to create their very own Dancing with the Stars moment, said Future Steps organizers.

Future Steps also announced it will add hip hop dance to its existing ballroom dance in-school program starting in September.
