Humber Olympic Cocktail

Cheers to our Olympians

East York Mirror

The Olympic Cocktail is a unique balance of fruity flavours with a hint of mint that replicate the colours of the Olympic rings. According to Dan Reeves, a professor of mixology at Humber College, it took several different combinations before the right flavour balance could be achieved with liqueurs that were tinted the right colour for the festive drink.

A great addition to an Olympic kick-off party, the top ring of Grand Marnier can be lit to simulate the Olympic torch. Just don't let it burn too long as the rim of the glass will get hot.

Humber Olympic Cocktail

1/5 oz. Pomegranate liqueur

1/5 oz. Kahlua

1/5 oz. Creme de Menthe

1/5 oz. Blue Curacao

1/5 oz. Grand Marnier

Layer each liqueur carefully in a glass in the order listed, Grand Marnier being the last addition. According to Reeves, the trick to layering involves slowly pouring the liqueur over a spoon into the drink.
