While the pavement and sidewalks are being reconstructed, a new exciting community art project will be incorporated to revitalize the Jameson Avenue streetscape.
The City's Capital Construction Programme includes pavement and sidewalk reconstruction, installation of watermain and water services and streetscaping along Jameson Avenue from Springhurst Avenue to Queen Street West.
Parkdale/High Park Councillor Gord Perks worked with the city's Clean and Beautiful Secretariat to ensure the project receives some attention and that funding is allocated for a community-focused project. Details of the project are yet to be unveiled.
The reconstruction of Jameson Avenue began in the fall of 2008, but was put on hold during the Canadian National Exhibition and then through the winter months. The remainder of the construction will begin again March 16. It's expected to be completed by June 30.
During the road reconstruction a section of Jameson Avenue between King Street and Queen Street West will be restricted to one way southbound until work on that portion is complete.
Pedestrian access to the waterfront will not be affected during this entire construction period.
