Councillors turn down invite to tour adult clubs

It's looking like Etobicoke York Community councillors will be taking a pass on an invitation to tour two city-licensed adult entertainment clubs in Etobicoke next week.

The Adult Entertainment Association of Canada sent a letter of invitation to 11 councillors in Etobicoke, York and High-Park earlier this month. Only Etobicoke councillors Doug Holyday and Rob Ford replied, and said they would not attend.

AEAC is hosting the tour, an official said, to give councillors insight into the association's self-regulation of clubs, including facility and locker room checks.

Adult entertainment clubs come before community council on issues related to property standards and zoning. The tour, the official said, is intended to aid councillors in making "educated decisions" about clubs.
