A COMMUNITY MEETING requested by residents of Lynngrove and Brentwood North will be held at 7 p.m. in the gymnasium at Etobicoke Collegiate Institute, 86 Montgomery Rd. Councillor Peter Milczyn and representatives from 22 Division and Transportation Services invite members of the community to discuss their concerns about traffic, signage, lighting and pedestrian safety. The meeting will be casual and will include a question and answer period.

YOUTH EXPRESS - MODERN BATIK ART, an exhibit at the Etobicoke Civic Centre Art Gallery, 399 The West Mall, opens today and runs until Feb. 25. An opening reception takes place Sunday, Feb. 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. This exhibition is the result of a project that engaged youth in Toronto's Jamestown and Jane-Finch neighbourhoods in modern Batik Art Workshops. The exhibition represents 70 original works that showcase their talent, creativity and commitment to excellence. Many of the pieces express their cultural roots in all their beauty and complexity. Please join us to celebrate African History month and the achievements of these young artists. HAND-MADE BOOKS WORKSHOP for Families takes place at the Assembly Hall, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Learn the basics of creating your own unique accordion style books. This hands-on class allows you to make one book using various materials and techniques and leave with ideas for more. Cost: $20 per adult and child (5 years and up), $5 for an additional child. PLASP CHILD CARE SERVICES is looking for youth volunteers who enjoy caring for children. Positions in after-school programs are available in eight schools in Etobicoke. High-school students can earn volunteer hours while supervising children in a fun atmosphere. An orientation session will be held on Feb. 12 at the PLASP head office.
