Toronto Go Abroad Fair on this weekend

Students who want to take on the world should mark Sept. 20 and 21 on their calendars.

That is when the Canadian Education Centre Network hosts its fifth annual Toronto Go Abroad Fair at Exhibition Place, Queen Elizabeth Exhibit Hall. The fair is a trade show-style event, featuring more than 100 organizations, and admission is free.

Exhibitors at the fair showcase opportunities for Canadian youth to "take on the world" through study abroad, work and volunteer opportunities, cultural and language programs and overseas adventure travel.

Each day will begin with a seminar presented by Jean-Marc Hachey, featured speaker and the author of The BIG Guide to Living and Working Overseas. At 5 p.m. on Saturday there will be a discussion panel, Travel Changes Everything, that will feature young people who have travelled, studied, volunteered and worked overseas. In addition, hourly seminars on a range of related topics also runs throughout the fair.

Verge Magazine and the Go Abroad Fair also present the Travel with Purpose Photo of the Year Exhibition. Short-listed photos representing the best of Verge readers and Go Abroad enthusiasts from around the world will be on display at fair and visitors will be able to vote for Photo of the Year.

The fair runs from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday at 180 Princes Blvd. Registration is not required.
