A woman with no vital signs was pulled from a burning house in south Scarborough on Wednesday, Jan. 7, afternoon.
Fire crews were called to 2611 Kingston Rd. at 3:06 p.m.
There were reports that someone was trapped in a bedroom.
A woman was found on the second floor and was carried outside where emergency crews tried to revive her.
"The patient is unconscious and not breathing," Toronto police Const. Tony Vella said.
The victim was taken by ambulance to The Scarborough Hospital, General Division.
A dog died in the fire.
Thirteen fire trucks were dispatched to the two-alarm blaze, which was knocked down at 3:21 p.m.
Kingston Road is closed in both directions between Midland Avenue and Chine Drive.
The blaze will be investigated by the fire marshal's office.
