Immigrant students can get help with homework

An after-school homework program is being offered in Scarborough to help new immigrant students with language and social skills as well as their homework.

The Centre for Information and Community Services (CICS) is targeting the service to students in grades 4 to 9 from low-income, new immigrant families, and the program run until June.

There are two locations:

• Woodside Square LINC Centre, 1571 Sandhurst Circle, Unit 202, at Finch Avenue and McCowan Road. This program runs every Wednesday, 4 to 5:45 p.m. To register, call Vienna Chan at 416-292-7510, ext. 130.

• CICS Immigrant Resource Centre at 2330 Midland Ave., near Sheppard Avenue, from Tuesday to Thursday, 4 to 6 p.m. Call Willa Tam at 416-292-7510, ext. 156 to register.
