A Toronto boxing coach - known for helping heavyweight boxer Lennox Lewis earn his Olympic gold medal in 1988 - is out on $100,000 bail after being charged with 13 offences relating to the alleged sexual assault of a female trainee.

Adrian Teodorescu, 65, is charged with eight counts of sexual assault, two counts of forcible confinement, as well as one count each of threatening death, assault and criminal harassment.

He appeared in court on Dec. 29 and 30.

The charges stem from an investigation into the reported ongoing sexual assault of a 21-year-old woman who used to train at the gym Teodorescu runs near St. Clair Avenue and Bathurst Street. Police believe assaults occurred from Friday, Feb. 1 to Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008.

Teodorescu is still permitted to enter Atlas Boxing Club, the co-ed gym, which he operates with his wife Gina and son Armand, but his bail conditions prohibit him from being near the women who train there unless one of his sureties (his wife or son) are present.

Teodorescu must also be in the company of one of them at all times and is banned from having a cellphone. He is also required to surrender his travel documents and cannot leave the province.

Police believe there may be other victims.

Anyone with information should call 416-808-5300 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at www.222tips.com or 416-222-TIPS (8477).
