Re: 'Incumbent seeking fifth term,' News, Sept. 10
I read the comments from the Liberal and it sounds like the same tired story you would hear anywhere else in Canada. No real imagination or vision of what our world should be like. And although the Conservative made no comments it would be the same as the Liberal: a story and sales pitch fashioned for the whole country. But, for me, one thing will always identify the Liberals and the Conservatives most definitively: ninety-seven dead soldiers. We as Canadians are most notably peacekeepers, not invaders.
I do not mean any ill will towards our soldiers. On the contrary, I am proud of them. I am thankful for them and their families. We must re-evaluate the reasons for Afghanistan and return to the peacekeeping-only role.
The Liberals, Conservatives and NDP all rejected a debate that included the Green Party. Why? What are they afraid of? A real alternative to doing nothing? Yes, people are more concerned about putting a roof over their heads.
I would agree with Mr. Bartley when he said this: if your personal environment is left out in the cold and rain it is hard to think about our natural environment.
