Variety Village is hosting the 28th annual Toronto Open Taekwondo championships on Saturday, Nov. 12 and Sunday Nov. 13.
The event attracts world class taekwondo competitors and promotes inclusion and experience for athletes of all abilities.Athletes from as far away as Chicago, Virginia, Florida, New York, New Jersey, Quebec, Manitoba, British Columbia, Alberta, and Newfoundland are expected to compete.There will also be a high performance division with elite national and Olympic team members from Barbados, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Grenada, India, Korea, Macao, Mexico, Nepal, Philippines, Puerto Rico and the United States.Variety Village Taekwondo is the home base to a branch of the Young Choung Taekwondo Academy as well as its Special Needs Taekwondo program.More than 2,000 participants and spectators are expected to attend the two day tournament, which runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.Variety Village is at 3701 Danforth Ave., just east of Birchmount Road.
