Scarborough player scores winner in MLS All-Star Game

De Rosario converts penalty kick in match against West Ham

For the second time in three years, Scarborough's Dwayne De Rosario has scored the winning goal in Major League Soccer's All-Star Game.

And this time De Rosario did it in front of friends and family who were part of the hometown crowd at Toronto's BMO Field.

The 30 year old, who is in his fifth season with the Houston Dynamo, scored after being fouled in the penalty area late in the second half. De Rosario boomed a shot which first struck the bottom of the crossbar before crossing the goal line to give the MLS All-Stars a 3-2 win over English squad West Ham in a match which also featured soccer superstar David Beckham.

De Rosario had a tough journey to even reach Toronto for the game as Houston played a match the night before. He entered the game in the 59th minute, along with East York native and Toronto FC player Jim Brennan, to a huge ovation from the local crowd. Ten minutes later, De Rosario booted the winning goal.

De Rosario began his MLS career in 2001 and has been a mainstay with the Canadian men's national team for years. He has been named the Canadian Soccer Association's men's player of the year for the past three seasons.

Rosario grew up playing soccer locally and attended Cardinal Newman Catholic High School.
