Two Scarborough women are dead, a third is injured and their neighbour is charged with the crime.

Emergency crews were called to 81 Rotary Dr., near Meadowvale Road and Sheppard Avenue East, just before 7 a.m. on Monday.

There police found victims Saramma Varughese, 65 and her daughter, Susan John, 43. The women had apparently been stabbed and were pronounced dead at the scene.

There are reports of a third victim, said to be Varughese’s 20-year-old granddaughter, who was injured and is recovering in hospital.

A neighbour, Nathaniel O’Brien, 31, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder as well as attempted murder. He was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.

Autopsies on the women are scheduled to take place Wednesday, Oct. 15.
