Scott Graham is honest with his customers.

If he can get you what you want, he will. If he can't, you'll know about it.

Graham is the owner and operator of Eco-Flora, which is based in Etobicoke, and prides himself on being up front with his clients about the products he sells: certified organic and fairly traded flowers.

He launched the company close to six years ago, but admitted it was a tough sell at first. Once the concept caught on and the idea of it being a trend disappeared, there was no turning back.

He said every flower he sells is certified organic by two arms-length organizations and all of the growers and cultivators of his imported flowers are paid Fair Trade wages.

He said the bulk of his clientele are people who already subscribe to the organic philosophy.

"Those people may have already (been buying) their foods from Whole Foods or (have) gone to farmers' markets. But then they get married they have those same choices available for them from local vendors. (That's) really important.

"If you have a choice why would you go (and buy) a product that exploits its workers?"
