While some parents and a long-time park activist may prefer the status quo, they do not speak for the community as a whole. Yet your article claims there is a "general consensus" that the playground equipment should not be replaced. This conclusion is premature. Some parents, myself included, are still forming opinions. The community is still waiting to learn about the
proposed changes. Why the rush to reject them outright?
Councillor Giambrone would best serve the community by widely publicizing the details of potential changes and actively soliciting the opinions of all park users. Might I suggest a flyer to local schools?
While it's important to be wary of changing public spaces for the worse, we should be open to opportunities for improvement. By presenting only the case against change, your article implies the discussion is over before it has begun. There is more to this story. Failing to address it is just bad journalism.
