I would like to voice my concern with the new law which combines the GST with the PST.
The fact that this new tax is now to include more items and services is very unfair. I believe the tax now includes the sale of homes and a tax on funeral services. Also, we hear of big cities such as Montreal and Toronto asking the federal government and the provincial government for money. Smaller towns are not so vocal.
What I would like to propose is a situation that would be more fair.
First, I’m proposing to drop the sales taxes combination to 12 per cent. Municipal governments, the Ontario government and the federal government should each collect four per cent.
