Legislative TV

The following letter has been sent to Mississauga South MPP Charles Sousa and Mississauga South MP Paul Szabo. A copy has been filed with The News for publication.

Dear Mr. Sousa and Szabo:
I received notification by letter from Rogers Cable that, effective Aug. 25, the Ontario Legislature cable TV program will no longer be available because we do not have a digital box. The legislative channel will move from cable channel 105 to cable channel 129, unavailable to us.
Many people watch this channel to get a glimpse at our provincial government at work. We believe it is a necessary service that should be provided to all Ontarians.
I wonder how long it will before Rogers moves the federal parliamentary CPAC channel from 97 to a higher number. This broadcast is also a necessary informative service, available to be viewed by all Canadians.
I would appreciate it if your office, Mr. Szabo, could contact the Minister responsible and intercede. I write on behalf of several constituents.
I have no intention of getting digital TV at this time as the channels it offers do not interest me. I will be writing to Rogers Cable with the same disapproving concerns.
