"Health Canada has no scientific reason to consider the use of wireless communications devices such as cellphones, BlackBerries, wireless laptop computers and their supporting infrastructure, dangerous to the health of the Canadian public. The World Health Organization has recently confirmed this as well.
"Note: 2005 WHO statement. To date, all expert reviews of health effects of exposure to radiation and electromagnetic fields (RF) have reached the same conclusion: There have been no adverse health consequences established from exposure to RF at levels below the international guidelines on exposure limited published by the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection.
"Health Canada bases its conclusion upon the bulk of scientific evidence from animal, invitro and epidemiological studies that have been carried out worldwide, including at our laboratory. Health Canada scientists will continue to study the issue of radio-frequency fields from wireless devices. Their possible link to adverse health effects, such as cancer, continues to be a priority of Health Canada.
"Health Canada is mandated to protect the health of Canadians. If scientific evidence were to show that exposure from cellphones or any other electric or magnetic field device was believed to be of concern, Health Canada would take the appropriate action to update its risk assessments, publications and advise the relevant regulatory authority."
